About the Northern Rivers
The Northern Rivers is also known as the Rainbow Region because of its exceptional natural beauty and cultural diversity. The Widjabul people of the Bundjalung nation are the traditional owners of the area including Lismore and surrounding villages. Many other people from all walks of life have made the Rainbow Region their home.
In the wider region, the Northern Rivers caters for every need including surfing and kayaking on the many beautiful beaches, hiking in the hills and lots of music, arts and culture. Do try and stay for a weekend and go to one of the Sunday markets, which rotates across the North Coast towns every month (1st Sunday Byron, 2nd The Channon or Lennox Head, 3rd Uki or Ballina, 4th Bangalow or Nimbin)
Byron Bay itself is a mecca for visitors from all over the world with its unique combination of beautiful beaches, cafes, markets, shops, the Lighthouse walk, inland rainforest tours, all kinds of health/wellbeing treatments, and an unparalleled opportunity to see live bands away from big cities.
